Genesis, Chapter 1, Verse 27: “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”The concept of free will has been debated in theological circles since time immemorial. Does God simply create us and then let us free to live our lives as we choose? Or are we like wind-up toys that God turns and turns, then unleashes upon a set path, forcing us to scurry along, repeating what we have been created to do, finally stopping once the internal mechanisms have run their course? Lately I’ve been thinking about this concept and it keeps bringing me back to one thing: deoxyribonucleic acid, also known as DNA.According to the Christian theology, God has created each and every one of us. He has determined everything about us from our hair color, our height, our weight, if we’re going to be Cubs fans and whether or not we like lima beans. (Though, does anyone like lima beans? Then what’s the point of making them, God?) As you well know, many of the same aspects of us are determined by our genetic code. Therefore, God must have created our DNA blueprints.
